Harrisburg University Biotech Program

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology and the Blumberg Institute have teamed up to offer graduate-level biotechnology certificates to prepare working professionals with workforce and leadership skills within the biotechnology industry. Beginning with the Fall 2021 semester, the Biotechnology Certificate Program will be offered in partnership with the Blumberg Institute.

Graduate Certificates available to earn: 

  • The Certificate in Regulatory Affairs in Biotechnology prepares the student for leadership positions within the regulatory, tech transfer, or legal affairs unit in an organization within the biotechnology industry.
  • The Certificate in Biomanufacturing in Biotechnology prepares the student for a supervisory or management role within a biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing company or contract manufacturing organization.
  • The Certificate in Medical Biotechnology prepares the student for a research scientist or process development engineer position in the healthcare or biomedical device industries or a contract research organization.

Certificate Program students can transfer unduplicated certificate courses for credit toward a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Harrisburg University. You’ll be about one-third of the way (12 credits out of 36 required) toward the MS degree when you complete any one of the three certificates.

Sowmya Tripathi, MPH

Sowyma HarrisburgA dentist from India, Sowmya has experience of working as a dental and healthcare practitioner along with handling regulatory submissions to local ethics committee. She completed her first master's degree from West Chester University in public health (MPH). Currently she is in the final semester of MS Biotechnology at Harrisburg University.
Sowmya currently works for DePuy Synthes, a Johnson and Johnson company, as a lead engineer in the Change Management and Document Control department.
"I really enjoy my time at HU," Sowmya says. "The faculty is great, and very experienced. The courses work meets the latest industry standards and the syllabus covers a wide range of topics. I have always received great and honest feedback for all my assignments, and this has helped me a lot in widening my horizons about the variety of topics. This graduate program has helped me get the job I desired."
