Baruch S. Blumberg Institute Professor Jinhong Chang Appointed Secretary for the International Society for Antiviral Researchage

DOYLESTOWN, PA (May 2019): The Baruch S. Blumberg Institute congratulates Jinhong Chang, MD, PhD, professor, for her recent election as Secretary of the International Society for Antiviral Research (ISAR). ISAR is an internationally recognized organization for scientists involved in basic, applied, and clinical aspects of antiviral research.

Block, PhD. “Her election as an officer of the board is a reflection of her scientific contributions and dedication to excellence in antiviral research.”    

 

Dr. Chang has been a member of ISAR since 2008. She has been a member of the poster award committee of the annual ISAR meeting (International Conference on Antiviral Research, ICAR) since 2015. She served as a mentor for the ISAR Woman in Science program in 2016 and 2017.

 

Dr. Chang has more than 20 years of research experience in the areas of molecular virology, innate immunity and antiviral drug discovery, and has more than 90 publications in peer-reviewed journals and six patents. She established her independent translational research group at Drexel University in 2007 before joining the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute in 2015.  Her group has been focused on the development of antiviral and innate immune modulating agents for treatment of viral infections that cause hepatitis and hemorrhagic fever. 

 

Dr. Chang was a member of the Editorial Board of Antiviral Research from 2015 to 2018, and has served as an Editor of Antiviral Research since 2018. Dr. Chang received her medical education and clinical training in Infectious Diseases as well as Ph.D. training in Virology at Peking University Health Science Center, Beijing, China. She received her postdoc training in Molecular Virology in the laboratory of Dr. John Taylor at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.
