Baruch S. Blumberg Institute Hosts 16th Annual Regional Biotech Conference
100 local leaders in life science and biotechnology to share successes and opportunities in biotech
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (November 2016) - The Baruch S. Blumberg Institute, the research arm of the Hepatitis B Foundation, will host the 16th Annual Regional Biotechnology Conference, themed “Incubating Innovation,” on Friday, November 18 at its headquarters at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The area’s life science and biotechnology leaders will meet to share success stories and discuss biotech opportunities.
As a part of the program, Min Gao, Ph.D., a Senior Research Fellow at Arbutus Biopharma and Adjunct Professor of the Blumberg Institute, will be inducted into the PA Biotech Center’s “Drug Inventors Wall of Fame” in recognition of his contribution to inventing the hepatitis C drug, Daclatasvir (Daklinza™).
The biotech conference will be co-moderated by Wayne Yetter, founding CEO of AstraMerck and former CEO of Novartis Pharmaceuticals U.S., and William Kinney, Ph.D., Director of Natural Products at the Blumberg Institute.
The Keynote Speaker is Sean O’Sullivan, Founder and Managing Director of SOSV, an accelerator-focused venture capital firm. Mr. O'Sullivan will address “Accelerating Innovation: How Accelerators are enabling a new dawn in life sciences, biotech and connected devices.”
Additional speakers include Timothy Block, Ph.D., President and Co-founder of the PA Biotech Center and President of the Hepatitis B Foundation and the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute; Kuldeep Neote, Ph.D., Senior Director at J&J Innovation Center-Boston; and Christopher Laing, Ph.D., Vice President, Science & Technology, University City Science Center.
