Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS)

Students recently returned from competing at the State Meeting of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) at Penn State University in University Park, PA. PJAS is not a traditional science competition. Students deliver a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation and then field questions during a brief Q&A session with judges. They are not permitted to present other materials (i.e. no poster, data, etc.). Students are judged against a rubric, not against each other. For this competition, any student meeting the standard can earn “1st Award” in a category. Seniors and sophomores are limited in the special awards they can win in this competition.
