Regenerative Medical Research

Pennsylvania Cancer and Regenerative Medicine Research Center

The Pennsylvania Cancer and Regenerative Medicine Research Center (PCARMRC), a division of the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute, is part of an international hub-and-spoke model for regenerative medical research and inquiry. This division spearheads research efforts and collaborates with similar centers around the world, such as those in Germany, Israel, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The interface between cancer, stem cells, and regeneration has arrived at a historic moment. Recent breakthroughs in cancer immunotherapy have resulted in new biotechnology companies and newfound hope for patients. Discoveries in regenerative medicine have reached a similar tipping point thanks to PCARMRC’s efforts.

With the combination of these efforts and our international studies in China, India, Japan, and parts of Southeast Asia, the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute is able to do incredible things to find solutions for liver cancer. Liver cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the world, making it crucial that we find ways to treat this illness. Stem cell research makes up a large part of how we find effective treatment methods.

Stem Cell Research

Through the use of embryonic stem cells, scientists are able to find better ways to treat not only liver cancer, but spinal injuries and other types of cancers as well. Despite being viewed as a controversial method in the past, scientists now see it as one of the most effective ways of learning new things about a variety of diseases. The effect that it has on liver complications, especially on late-stage cancers, is why the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute relies so heavily on PCARMRC, and why so much of our funding from donors in California and other states goes toward this form of research.

PCARMRC’s stem cell research is conducted by some of the highest-ranked medical professionals in the world, leading to significant breakthroughs in regenerative medical research for liver cancer. Dr. Richard G. Pestell, M.D., Ph.D., is the President of this division and is ranked first in the world by Google Scholar in citations for cell cycle and prostate cancer research. Thanks to his vision for PCARMRC, we can make breakthroughs in regenerative medical inquiry.

Please join the fight against liver disease and hepatitis B.

PCARMRC has been doing great things regarding regenerative medical research, but the fight cannot be completed without the help of our donors. The Baruch S. Blumberg Institute helps to fund research programs and international studies in locations spanning from the United States to India, Japan, and China, and parts of Southeast Asia. Even with generous donations coming from California and other parts of the country, we still have a long way to go.

Regardless of how large a role liver cancer has played in your life, we humbly encourage you to consider making a donation to help fund our efforts. No donation is too small, as any amount can help us make strides to saving the lives of the millions who are battling liver disease.
