Research

Nikhil Heble is a registered patent attorney who provides strategic legal and business counsel on a wide variety of intellectual property-related matters to a diverse client base, including publicly traded companies, investment firms, and universities.

Mr. Heble focuses primarily in the areas of pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical devices, biotechnology, organic chemistry, drug and oral care formulation, and medicine. He has significant experience with both prosecution and transactional IP, including acquiring and licensing patents; development, management, and valuation of intellectual property portfolios; and preparation of due diligence reports. He also provides freedom to operate, invalidity, and non-infringement opinions, as well as drafts and negotiates material transfer, research collaboration, and master services agreements.

Prior to joining Blank Rome, Mr. Heble served as Senior Patent Counsel for the in-house patent department of a Fortune 500 consumer products company, where he was responsible for developing and managing the patent portfolio and business interests related to its largest business unit.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Heble worked as a pharmacist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, and also gained pharmaceutical experience in both government and industry settings.

His practice involves preparing and prosecuting patent applications covering myriad technologies; rendering invalidity and non-infringement opinions; developing and implementing pre-litigation/litigation strategies in Hatch-Waxman related matters; conducting due diligence to support in- and out-licensing efforts; and drafting and negotiating various technology related agreements.
