Donate for Liver Disease Research

                                                                                                                                                                Donate

The Baruch S. Blumberg Institute has made incredible strides in finding a cure for liver diseases such as liver cancer and chronic hepatitis. None of this is possible without the funding that we have received from across the United States, including California which experienced a large hepatitis outbreak in 2016-2018, primarily among persons experiencing homelessness and/or using drugs in settings of limited sanitation. But the fight is still far from over. Hepatitis B is a disease of global importance, with greater than 300 million carriers of the virus world-wide, including China, Japan, India, and the United States who need our help. That help is built on donations from people like you.

Why Donate?

Hep B, chronic hepatitis, and liver cancer are more prominent than ever in parts of Southeast Asia, as well as China, Japan, and India. Even in the United States, more cases are being reported, and there are direct links to the opioid crisis as a cause. Sharing needles is one of the leading causes of liver disease, especially Hep B. If you are reading this from our home state of Pennsylvania, it’s possible that you have personally been impacted by the opioid crisis, as we have the fourth-largest death rate from opioids, according to the Center for Disease Control.

Donating to the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute goes so much further than funding research for liver disease and chronic hepatitis. Your donations go toward reducing liver disease-related deaths, and also help fund cell engineering research and find ways to detect traces of liver cancer and chronic hepatitis earlier, before they become deadly. From California to Southeast Asia, we are all fighting the same battle together. With your help, we can win this battle.

It's not just a donation. It's an investment in the cure for hepatitis B and liver cancer.

With many promising leads in the pipeline, the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute has an opportunity right now to significantly accelerate the pace of research, allowing our discoveries to benefit patients immediately. The Baruch S. Blumberg Institute is the only research organization focused on cures for hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis, liver disease and liver cancer.

Through your financial support, we can fund essential research programs dedicated to helping cure liver disease. We can move our basic discoveries from the proof-of-principle stage through translational research and preclinical testing that leads to human clinical trials.
